“The builder you choose should care as much about your project as you do.”

ABOUT THE BUILDER

Mark Hall Mark Hall built his first fort at five years old and has never stopped. After at least a dozen more forts on the property, Mark began working for one of the area’s finest craftsman, Richard Nickerson, as well as other local craftsmen. Mark’s carpentry training from Northeast Regional Vocational Technical School in Wakefield, MA, coupled with the artful craftsmanship learned from the masters helped shape and refine his skills as a builder.

With a natural eye for color and architecture, Mr. Hall brings his unique vision and classic style to each project, offering alternatives not always apparent. From the positioning of an addition with respect to the land, to consideration of the natural elements surrounding the project, Hall conceives every detail.
Each project is approached professionally by the builder with a shared desire to achieve the homeowner’s goals.

With a deep sense of community and love of local history, Mr. Hall’s expertise in historic restoration has made him a valuable resource to local towns in the preservation of their historic buildings. From the Hartshorne House in Wakefield to the Putnam House in North Reading, M.G. Hall Contractors has made a significant contribution in the area of historic restoration.

In 2002, M.G. Hall Contractors developed an area on Duane Drive in North Reading building three new homes. One of these homes is a colonial built to replace the original destroyed by fire in 1999. A tour of the new home takes you back in time as it replicates the period. The M.G. Hall signature can truly be seen in these three homes, and you're welcome to view them on this site.

An ambitious project moved M.G. Hall into the commercial arena, center ring, in 2005. Haven Junction located at 2 Haven Street, Reading is a 30,000 square foot retail/office building which has led the way and set a standard for downtown development in Reading. Its open foyer with fine millwork and wainscoting, chandelier and expansive staircase speak volumes to buyers and visitors.

The vision and passion evidenced in his work as a builder is also apparent in his service to the community. An active member of the Historic District Commission in North Reading, Hall is involved in planning for the preservation of historic North Reading buildings. Additionally Mr. Hall is one of the founding members of NRYSSA (North Reading Youth Services Support Association), a non-profit corporation established in response to the increase in drug and alcohol abuse among the youth population of North Reading. The group identified a void which existed in providing services for the teen population outside school hours and has been successful in hiring a Youth Services Director to work on teen issues here in North Reading. Mr. Hall and his wife, Judy, both natives of North Reading, reside with their four children. His son Cody shares his father’s passion for the art and trade of building fine custom homes and remodeling and plans to continue the Hall legacy.
